Section: The recent history of the Vreezpot Empire

Sub-section: The Murder of Kyan Vrezpor

Written by: ACER

Now we come to one of the darkest parts of our fair history. This was the worst event to happen to the Empire, and was caused by those who were once true supporters of it.

The years that had passed since the death of the king had been troubled, but now there was hope for the Empire. In the background, though, dark deals were being formed, and plots were beginning to take shape. The Barons and Baronesses had had enough of Kyan’s rule, as they deemed it to lenient. In the foreground they were powerless, as the people loved him, and the Alpha Battalion under Emalia Remoh would have crushed a military coup. Thus, they resorted to murder, and began plotting a way of bringing about Kyan’s death. It would have to be swift, and most importantly undetectable, particularly by Emalia. To this end they employed an assassin, of the name Arcameir, to carry out this deed. And so he came to the Empire, with the support of the other Barons, and unknown to neither Kyan nor Emalia.

The fateful day came. It was the 27th of December 2072, a day cold but bright, and perfect for the celebrations that accompanied this time. The government met, and hidden in the shadows the assassin attended as well. They discussed much, the Barons and Kyan, and when the meeting drew to a close, the assassin struck. A knife to the back of Kyan’s head was enough, and down he fell. Emalia immediately turned and killed the assassin, but worse was yet to come. The other Barons and Baronesses declared to Emalia that she was no longer welcome within the Empire. She realised that it was they who had planned this. However, she had not time to cut any down before they overpowered her. She escaped, but had to flee. Already the other Barons had ordered the army against her. With the support of the Alpha Battalion she fled, first to the sanctuary of the Kokiri forest. Within there she was not welcome because, much as she was the friend of the King, he could not run the risk of another war.

So she fled onwards to the Southern Isles, with both her own and Kyan’s children, leaving the Alpha Battalion behind to defend Chicodon from the other Barons. She stayed within those Isles for many years, fearing for her, and the children’s, lives. Her hiding was to have great effect on the Empire. Although Chicodon remained independent, well defended by the Alpha Battalion, the other lands did not fair so well. Taxes were massively increased, and the people slipped back to the older ways of life. The Barons did not get on either. They were constantly squabbling, sending raiding parties into each other’s land. The army was heavily divided, and overall it was like the dark days of the Civil War, except this time there seemed no hope of rescue.

So time passed, and the Empire grew weak once more, while the forces of Takomonox grew in strength once more. Soon the Invasion would happen again, but this time there was neither Vrezpor nor Remoh to protect our fair land.
