Monologues from stage play I wrote
Several years ago I wrote a Greek Tradegy....Andromache. After a fashion It followed the story line of the Greek play except Pyrrhus concocted a ruse and instead of throwing Andromache' s son over the wall he threw the body of his own child who had died of the plague. As part of the spoils of Troy he took Andromache. He falls in love with her but is afraid to tell her he saved her son for fear she will reveal the secret. The play is about the tension that exists between the two. In the historical record it is written that Pyrrhus married Andromache and she bore him three children. When I read this I asked myself. "How can a woman have three children by a man that threw her firstborn off the wall of the city?" I wrote the play to reconcile that question.
