finding yourself again after being in a deep depression
Retreating from the darkness and desolation,
consciousness begins to set in;
despair shifts to hope. Hope!
I can see. See!
I see light, a forgiving, beautiful light!
Shuffling forward, faltering slightly,
drifting towards the sunlight.
I'm becoming lighter, and now I see my shadow,
no longer hunched over, my aches ebbing away.
I can hear. Hear!
I hear a joyous sound of birds chirping in the distance.
I can feel. Feel!
I feel alive. Alive!
Master of my senses, awakened
from the deep slumber of my despair.
I'm progressing ever closer to the lights and sounds,
heaviness lifted, burden off my back.
I can stand tall, eyes no longer cast downward.
I'm extricating myself from the bottomless pit of my agony.
Where have I been?
I can once more feel joy and happiness!
I'm becoming me again.
