Edgar is running for his life. Will he be found?
Edgar ran with sweat pouring down his back. Panic coursed through his veins as he sprinted in search of a place to hide. He dodged the trees and brush, jumped over rotting green logs, and ducked beneath the hanging branches. “There’s not enough time. There’s not enough time,” he kept muttering to himself as he thought of the person in pursuit of him. His legs were burning, his breath ragged, and his heart racing. Just when he thought he couldn't go on any longer, he spotted a large wall of rocks. Tucked behind some bushes, there was a small cave. He aimed for the cave and all but dove in.

“Ouch! Watch it!” He heard when he landed roughly on the cold floor.

“Wh-who’s in here?” He asked with a shaky voice.

“It’s just me, you idiot.” Out from the shadows, Darla emerged. Her skin was chalked with dirt and her calves were covered in tiny scratches from the briars. “Now shut up so he won’t hear us when he comes,” she ordered. Then, noticing just how unsettled he was, “Don’t worry, Edgar. No one will find us in here.”

They sat in silence, waiting to see if they would be discovered. After a minute of sitting like this, they heard the call. “NINETY NINE, ONE HUNDRED. READY OR NOT, HERE I COME!”
