We live much of life amid unique choices. Joy is anchored in The One beyond our life.
There are times when solitude is better than society, and silence is wiser than speech. We should be better Christians if we were more alone, waiting upon God, and gathering through meditation on His Word spiritual strength for labour in his service. We ought to muse upon the things of God, because we thus get the real nutriment out of them. . . . Why is it that some Christians, although they hear many sermons, make but slow advances in the divine life? Because they neglect their closets, and do not thoughtfully meditate on God's Word. They love the wheat, but they do not grind it; they would have the corn, but they will not go forth into the fields to gather it; the fruit hangs upon the tree, but they will not pluck it; the water flows at their feet, but they will not stoop to drink it. From such folly deliver us, O Lord. . . .
― Charles Spurgeon

Our anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strengths.
― C. H. Spurgeon

Hope itself is like a star- not to be seen in the sunshine of prosperity, and only to be discovered in the night of adversity.
― Charles Haddon Spurgeon

If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our dead bodies. And if they perish, let them perish with our arms wrapped about their knees, imploring them to stay. If Hell must be filled, let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go unwarned and unprayed for.
― Charles Spurgeon

A Bible that’s falling apart usually belongs to someone who isn’t.
― Charles Spurgeon

Visit many good books, but live in the Bible.
― Charles Spurgeon

When your will is God's will, you will have your will.

Why does the past still trouble me now?
Why do dark figures arise in my mind?
Why does the weight cause my back down to bow?
Where is a place, both safe and most kind?

Childhood, your thoughts were needed back then.
Now, they do cause me to stumble a-pace,
wondering how to presently win,
wondering what would be a good face.

Look to the Lord, and find in Him peace.
Look to the cross, and find your soul's Gift.
Look to the future enveloped by Grace.
Look to Christ's tomb. Its emptiness lifts.

Some days Hope is wondrous plain.
It walks with us and colors glow.
The Future doth look bright, again,
and each rested heart can good things know.

Some days Hope its slickers dons
to trudge through the rain of heartfelt tears.
It would the gale be sooner gone,
a-blowing hence its lifelong fears.

Some days Hope, it seeks to hide
to draw us in to nearer be
for sometimes sit we in our pride,
expecting Hope to always see.

Some days Hope has a voice so faint,
that we must strain to hear one word,
but though the devil would blackness paint
the hopeful thought wings like a bird.

This Hope beyond all living hope
restores our faith to hope, again.
We're given help when we can't cope,
by One, Who paid for every sin.

Hope Beyond Hope seems hard to find
when try we everything we know,
but in the days, that are unkind
perennial plants gain the strength to grow.

Hope Beyond Hope helps the glazing eyes
to see, again, at a higher view.
The days of pain 'mid heartfelt cries
may know great peace when all is through.

Hope Beyond Hope when Try doth cease,
resigns itself to Nevermore.
In giving up we find increase,
and the Risen King with greater store.

Moments come and moments go.
These times to really think and be
can help the heart to fully know,
can help the mind to fully see.

Moments are life's daily cells.
We wait and rest in quietness,
and come to hear what breathing tells,
and come to seek His Love to bless.

Moment's promissory note of grace
can give us hope to newly live.
We now do stop to seek His Face,
we now do find the hope He gives.

Moments bid us, "Watch, and wait
to find the Truth in His blest call."
Begin we then to serve Him great.
Begin we then to 'fore Him fall.

The poem is a hardy friend.
He lets you rant and rave
or sends you to a nook to mend,
your parsing mind to save.

The poem sees a bit of heart,
that needs a voice to speak.
He gives you hope, a place to start,
a nuance, that you seek.

The poem is a wondrous frame
'pon which to build your house.
The walls are furnished much the same
as waltzes by the Strauss.

The poem is a coffee break,
that warms the end of day,
relieving you by the words he takes
as heartfelt things to say.

Peace finds rest in a Person.
Experience His SHALOM. Home in His Wings Enjoy.
Accept His Gift. Focus on His Adoration.
Come to Him. He paid the Cost.
Eat from His Hand. He knows how to make the road Even.

Peace is Christ’s Tool.
No human hand can build it.
No human heart can imagine it.
No human life can live forever without it.

Peace is Christ’s Tool.
Salvation received is Peace applied.
Peace with God, first. The Peace of God follows.
Peace in the heart is given by Christ without man’s payment.

Shalom, a blessing for the heart,
creates completeness through the soul.
When we're enough in God we start
to know the peace, that makes us whole.

Integrity fits each several part
to serve in wondrous unity.
Forgiveness brings the wounded heart
restoration's ability.

Mercy sheaths the sword away
from unjust and wrongful men.
Grace brings good for each new day
to those, who have no chance to win.

A life once broken, now can serve,
but not like those, who've served through the years.
Show kindness past what they deserve,
and soon they'll leave their bleakest fears.

"The words received, commands embraced,
inclining ears to Wisdom's call
prepare your greatness, not the tastes.
On Understanding fully fall.

"If you will cry to Knowledge know,
and lift your voice to understand,
if you will seek what silver shows,
and search for treasures hid in land.

"then you will grasp God's Holy Fear,
and find the knowledge of the Lord.
For He it is, Whose Wisdom's clear,
out of His mouth comes the truest Word.

"He brings sound Wisdom to the right.
He buckles them to walk the way,
that rightly keeping Judgment's road
are saints preserved to in Him stay.

"Then understanding righteousness,
and Judgment, Equity, His Way
when Wisdom in your heart doth bless,
and Knowledge pleases your soul's day,

"Discretion shall thy life preserve
throughout this Time, throughout the Day,
Understanding will thee serve,"
and Christ is thine, come what may.

These words of Proverbs 2 bespeak
eleven verses for the heart.
"Shalom" to those, who Christ would seek.
Each life begins in Him to start.

There’s a prayer, that helps the heart
on the rocky road.
When we try, Fear seems to start,
piling on our load.

Serenity is the subject, true
as we bow and pray.
“Lord, let Serenity guide me through
when change is past my way.

“Please, give me the courage to change the things,
that can be changed by me.
Let Wisdom in my person sing
the difference to see.”

We try to live as perfectly
as any human can.
We want to serve God reverently,
completing His Great Plan.

And still, we fail, and wonder why
we couldn’t do it right,
but He comes in soft reply
to lift us from our night.

“Dear Child, I love you. I have come
to give Salvation’s Gift
You’re right with me, the part, the sum.
I’ve sealed Sin’s awful rift.

“I lived the Perfect Life for you.
I died and rose, again.
I’ve got you every day, all through.
I came your life to win.”

The new year gives us time to think,
to pause, and see the future's hope.
The days ahead pass 'fore you blink.
They all are washed by God-blest soap.

The hope is in a strength beyond
our human efforts to be good.
The Lord of All by saving bond
makes right what humans never could.

This year in hope by day and night
gives time for growth, and wisdom brings.
The past in all its earthbound plight
cannot define the soul, that sings.

Will fear of what may come our way
destroy our steps to onward go?
Will winter's cold defeat our day
to march toward summer's warmth to know?

Without hope's friendship can we live?
Can we yet help the sons of Earth?
The truest hope He ever gives
is change from death to know new birth.

The roof above the house is great!
The roof above the sky,
it shows His Care, the early, late,
it always draweth nigh.

Like a roof He covers us
with His sheltring wings.
Every day His loves to bless
the hearts His praises sing.

The roof above, the floor beneath,
His arms around to hold.
Eternal good He doth bequeath
to those made purest gold.
