DAY 2455 January 8, 2022
Let's try another group of words that are a bit more challenging to use: death, frame, promise, wave, earthflax, bloody, concrete, disappearance, and emotion.

I had to copy the prompt. the words were just so tempting I don't know what else to do with them right now. They just sounded so cool and so like some words Beaoul or Raen might find crossing their paths. I can almost picture the scene, but not quite at the moment.

I had a really cool set of dreams last night about a superhero school where a lot of the cool kids are more villains than heroes I wrote three pages down in description in my dream journal. the last time I had a dream this cool Raen and Beaoul came of it and I am really happy with where they are going. That is the problem the idea is so cool I want to drop what I am working on and play with it, but that would be bad news for Raen and Beaoul. I just got them worked into the outline of the Hellhounds sequel. I am calling it Emancipations because the overall theme is of characters finding their way out of proverbial slaveries of sorts they have found themselves in. Raen is trapped by her society, Beaoul starts out as a hellhound slave of the mistress of darkness, Mae starts out enslaved by duty to the preserve. Tyrulan starts out as a sanruphrup slave to Mira like Beaoul. all of the other characters have ideas or other less tangible things holding them back from being who or what they want to be. Sometimes the characters are stuck because of cultural expectations and prejudices found in the supposedly utopian society of the Preserve.

I don't know what today's prompts are but I am trying to start a habit of blogging daily so...

I am working on turning Raen and Beaoul's story into a book. I am blending it into a book I have been stalled on for over a year. I have finished the outline now I just need to deal the scenes out into the proper places in the manuscript.

I am also working on a couple of new scenes for it.

Prompt:
Looking back: What did you lose and what did you gain in 2021 and how did you events of the world affect you?

We lost over half of our furbabies in 2021. It was a mess we were a mess, we had way too many and don't ever intend to let it get that bad again.

What did I gain? Five lbs? A more manageable lifestyle? I don't really know. I am still not in a good enough place about last year to see the positives of it.

Inflation has really kicked our behinds. We're on a fixed income and even with a COLA it seems more broken than fixed. Let's just say my financial goals include winning the lottery to get out of debt.

So very frustrated with Amazon. They won't let me post here and publish it on Kindle Vella. It is upsetting. The thing of it is the only reason in my mind to publish on Vella is the hope of finding a wider audience. The only people that checked out the vella story though are people who found out about it here, so it makes sense to cut out the middlemen and just post here. I wish I could get paid for my writing, but to be honest, I am just writing to be read, I get that here. People here both read and review me which helps me become a better writer. Maybe someday I'll get paid for it but for now, being read is enough for me.

PROMPT November 30th

Wow, it's the end of the month! With Thanksgiving behind us (here in the States), and Christmas on the horizon, what, if any, are your Christmas traditions? If you have no holiday traditions, do you have any plans for this month?

Crying, missing family, meltdowns, more crying, eating too much, sleeping too much. A lot of triggers...

PROMPT November 29th

Imagine for a moment that you are near the end of your life. What do you want to have done that would make you feel satisfied?

Traditional publication would be nice, but technically I am published, print on demand counts, it could even be profitable if I were better at self-promotion. I like the writing, I just don't sell myself well. I am happy just as long as somebody reads it. I don't feel like I need money for what I have written. It isn't that I don't feel like what I have written doesn't have value. I just feel like there are many different types of value. My father won't believe in me being a writer until I start getting a regular paycheck from it. Do I even value money? Why do I even care about being traditionally published? Is it because I feel like people will only bother to read what I have written if they spend their hard earned money on it and want their value for it? I don't know. Is being a member of WDC enough to leave me satisfied? Fortunately, I am not looking down the double barrels of death right now to know for sure what I need to feel satisfied.

PROMPT November 28th

Hopefully a little change of pace tonight. Write about something intangible: faith, magic, energy, power, or creativity.
Just choose one topic, and write about it.

Magic is science we haven't figured out yet. Spells are ways of demanding things of the universe. I think the idea of magic is that you are trying to force the universe to act in a way favorable to you.

PROMPT November 27th

Things have progressed well in your town/city with the Pandemic. So well that you've been allowed to return to the office instead of working from home. Your co-worker Karly, is sneezing and coughing and refuses to wear a mask. Who do you call, or do you let it slide. Tell us why you would act that way.

I am so going to my boss! Karly could be infected and contagious and I'd rather quit than end up dead or in the hospital. Even vaccinated she could be a carrier. I'm vaccinated but you never know when this stupid disease could mutate into something worse.

That said I just spent the last hour writing a scene where Beaoul was attempting to stop the spread of a horrible plague among the populace of Raen's homeworld. Poor Beaoul, she is really hurting from what I had to make her do to save the planet.

PROMPT November 26th

Today is Thanksgiving here in the United States. I know this is the prompt for tomorrow, but I'm going to give you something to be thankful for. The prompt for tonight is to be yourself. Write whatever is on your mind. Provide your own prompt, so-to-speak. I look forward to reading your posts!

A good deed had finally gone unpunished for Raen, well, that happened a lot for her. She rescued people and her life invariably got better. This time she had rescued Maku's reputation by finding the basuram shipment. Her reward? Raen was a masterjourneywoman in the Baerd Guild and had accrued affiliations with six other trade and commerce guilds. It was enough to catapult her status to a certified independent courier. That led to her current circumstances.

"This will be perfect Miss Hazel!" Raen smiled at the landlady as she opened the door to the small closet of a room equipped with a bed and a dresser.

"I know it's small dear, as soon as one of the larger rooms opens up I will be happy to offer it to you. Your credentials are impeccable. You have more references than any of my other guests. The women's bathroom is down the hall, and towels are found in the closet next to the bathroom. I do request you dress and undress in the bathroom when you shower so don't forget your fresh clothing. Slippers are required in the building. I generally require my guests to leave their shoes in the entryway." Miss Hazel handed Raen a stack of bedding. "Breakfast is at seven, the morning bell is at six-fifteen though I would recommend getting and setting an earlier alarm if you want to be first to the showers."

Raen nodded at the rapid influx of information. She laid the bedding on the small bed and retrieved a fifty chit coin from her satchel. She laid it reluctantly on Miss Hazel's palm. It was the first time she had paid for her own room. She felt the electric thrill of independence alongside the icy stab of responsibility.

Miss Hazel checked the coin for validity and then laid the key to the room on Raen's palm. "See you tomorrow morning."

Raen tucked the key in the pocket of her satchel. Then she made the bed. When she was finished she sat on the foot of the bed. She should return to the guildhall and get the rest of her things. She didn't own much, a few outfits, a few books, and the satchel Honor Baggood had given her. Then she should check in with the appropriate dispatch forums to find a paying job. Raen felt very little like doing what she should. She still had substantial savings from her finder's bonus on the basuram shipment. She had enough to live on for months.

She didn't know what to do now. Raen thought about her friends still on the street. She was officially a citizen, no longer among the nameless worthless poor. She had guild affiliations, people would notice if she disappeared. That wasn't true for many of the street kids. She wished she could do something for them, that she could just hand out a valuable affiliation badge to them. They went missing, were sold, jailed, murdered because no one acknowledged them. Raen needed a business license so she could hire the street kids and give them badges that would mark their worth to the seedy underworld.

Raen pulled out her Baerd-issued com-pad. She searched the price for what she needed. It would be at least two-thousand chits to buy a business license and fifty chits to register for each badge she issued. Right now she didn't have enough to do it and still have enough to live on herself, but with some work... Raen did some conservative calculations, she could manage it within five years.

Raen logged into her banking app and transferred two-thirds of her account into long-term savings, a move that meant her money would work towards her goal for her. Raen laid back on her bed and chuckled to herself at her new life plan. It didn't even occur to her that as a business owner eventually, she wouldn't have to do the leg work anymore. This wouldn't just change the lives of numerous street kids, but also her own.
