This engages me from the start. Makes me keep reading, looking for a the next thing. The Christmas theme, unexpected at the beginning, holds it all together. The way you treat "adopted" at the end leaves a lot unsaid and unknowable. I like that.
Written with enough suspense that it kept me reading even though I really didn't like the subject matter. You drew me in. I wanted the poor man to find his way out and discover he didn't really do it. But, alas, the end was not what I wished.
I really like this story. You develop it well. The characters are believable and so is the plot in the world in which we now live. The surprise ending is a big surprise but also believable. You make me want to have copy of that book.
