Ghosts of adobe scent and pinion pine smoke, ineffable olfactory memories indelibly inhabiting my gullet, haunt me. In my sojourns through California, New Mexico, California, North Carolina, Michigan, South Dakota, Michigan, Texas, Michigan, Texas, and Wisconsin, I have now landed in Kentucky. And if God wills, I shall complete the cycle back to that land of red mesas and adobe that lurks like leukocytes in my longing limbs. Please don’t tell me I am too old to realize that dream.

When I was young and able I loved wilderness camping. I took groups of youth on week-long treks in Algonquin Provencial Park in Canada, north of Toronto. Now I am too old for that and have turned to another life-long interest, writing poetry.
