Written in a heartfelt and realistic manner. You portrayed exactly what I understood in this writing: the doctor makes money out of the patient who is left untreated and disillusioned. Great piece.

This story has a great intro to the setting. I could feel the coziness of the fire and imagined the snow swirling around outside the little cottage. The Chocolate Festival the elves reminisce about sounds Icelandic and very Christmassy. When Santa enters and eventually announces a change of plan, the cheeriness seems to enter with him. He also strings the elves along in a jolly manner telling them that the offspring of Frosty and Frostina would be staying in the elves' cottage. This makes the petulant and almost offensive remark from Chauncy seem justified until we hear that Santa is giving the elves a year's holiday to join their loved ones back home! Light entertainment with a difference, to suit the season.

What an amazing twist in the tale! You portray so well how you weren't part of the crowds at school. Your writing style is very good and flows well. Great story.

Review of The Old Man and the Coin

Very clever conclusion to the story. However, although the plot is strong, I was a little lost in the narrative. The third to last sentence confused me: did he spend the other quarter on food? Nevertheless Patty, I love that you and I are contempories (60 -something grans) and will come back to read more.
