It reminds me of a poem by Emily Dickenson.
It is very moving, enamored, and beautiful!
And like every deep poetry it reveals some suffering of the soul.

Emily Dickinson

I’m Nobody! Who are you?
Are you – Nobody – too?
Then there’s a pair of us!
Don't tell! they'd advertise – you know!

How dreary – to be – Somebody!
How public – like a Frog –
To tell one’s name – the livelong June –
To an admiring Bog!

Very beautiful. Truly the kings of this world have balanced personalities. It philosophically reminds me much of If by Rudyard Kipling:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;

You have to be in a good mood - otherwise, you can't be helpful to anyone. I love the concept of the poem and it is beautifully worded. Congratulations!

Very funny! Obviously, the little guy is looking after mice as if they are his pets. It reminds me very much of Walt Disney's Cinderella, where the main character was friends with the mice and the birds as well. It's good to celebrate every living creature, and I loved the sentence that they "did not choose to be mice, and are just trying to live." It's a good story for the lovers of animals. I wonder what happens next with Danny and his small pets in the tree house. From flash fiction, it can become a sequel for children. It is very fascinating that the boy can speak to the animals - that adds magic to the story. Think of what can happen next (this could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship!)
