The loss of a mother is the topic of "December 6, I Buried My Strength!". Reading through this piece of work, I felt the loss like it was my loss as well. I felt the very cry from "my heart and soul" as expressed in this piece of work. Further, I realize the author's loss of a mother's "physical presence is and always will be missed in my heart and soul" because of his most sincere words, "I loved her and love her still!"

Mothers are the one and only guide and presence in our lives; and to lose a mother not only leaves us "alone" and without the strength that mothers provide for their children, but we also become a "lost soul" without a mother.

Review of The Spirit Owl

I was fascinated by the tale of the "Spirit Owl"; a story of one "Kala" who had a vision as she hesitantly went through a "vision" that her grandfather managed for her to accomplish. At the start of the tale, we are impressed by the fact that Kala did not believe in a ceremony that her grandfather asked her to do. However, she did go through it, had a vision, after which she realized that her grandfather was a true believer for her to go through the ceremony she did not believe in. At the end, "Kala and her grandfather just smiled and agreed it was all very strange. The owls looked on."

It was all odd, however it accomplished something that Kala thought was not going to help in the fact that her grandfather was about to lose his land. In the end, she realized she needed to believe...

I had a good laugh after reading "My Love Affair with Mr. Coffee (r)" because it really touched me. As a coffee drinker, I do appreciate when the kettle just refuses to boil and give me a cupful of coffee!!!!! The author did write this piece of work with such originality, that I wondered whether my very own writing would evoke such "laughter"!!!! Kudos to the author.

"Through the Gates of the Frightful Realm" seems to tell of "mystery" when one goes and takes a walk to a "Forest of Mystery"...; suggesting farther that "entering this secret dimension can have irreversible consequences." It is a short tale; however, throughout its shortness, this piece of work may frighten someone if that someone goes "Through the Gates of the Frightful Realm". It seems a good piece of writing...for the eve of All Saints...

"Nonsense in a garden" is a short tale of two babies in a mother's womb; talking to each other and wondering what it will be like after birth! And from these conversations, it is apparent that one of them just does not believe a "mother" exists.

Through this conversation between two babies, the author, I believe, seems to be saying that siblings do differ in their thoughts/ideas of what a mother is; that these two siblings will probably, after birth and through their growing days, continue the same line of conversation they had before birth!!!!!

Review of I Walk With God!
Review by elephantsealer

"I Walk with God!" feels like it is a prayer; an intense, heart to heart talk with God. It feels like a human thought that is guided by the spirit of God, leading towards a silent communication with God. It is a prayer as we know it; a human desire to feel the nearness of God; to feel the presence of God within the soul, within the mind, within the need of a human. We pray because we believe in the promise of God; in the promise to send to us Jesus Christ who died for us on the cross; to save us from the errors of our humanity. To this end, we pray and say: "Yes, I often walk with God!"

Review of The Loss WC 291
Review by elephantsealer

Rated: E | (3.5)
"The Loss WC 291" tells of a person's experience as an "eight-year-old kid" whose planned visit to spend the night with "June", the "Malek's daughter" came to a sudden end when robbers stole everything from the Maleks' home. As a result, "Mrs. Malek" took "Jackie" back home as the "pajama party is off for now". Unfortunately, "Jackie's dad" would not let her spend any night at the Maleks' home for fear the robbers would revisit the home.

This unfortunate event on a young person becomes a part of her young life when "the burglars stole the Malek's stuff; they also stole part of my innocence." Do we consider this kind of experience part and parcel of growing up?

"Thump, Thump, Thump...WC 238" is a short tale of a sleepy-eyed person being made aware of "wailing soounds" coming through from another part of the house. Although "frightened to death", the person yelled stop at the noisy "orange glow", and caused it to vanish.

Back in bed, the person murmured: "I need to use my "I mean business voice more often."

I guess we need a bit of laughter nowadays to keep us aware of little things that happen in the night?

Review of Masquerade
Review by elephantsealer
In affiliation with SENIOR CENTER GROUP
Rated: E | (3.5)
"Masquerade" brings to the fore the unfortunate reality of addiction. Why do people want to "smoke, we sniff, we consume all we can" until one day they come face to face with an addition that brings them to ruin? Why does a mother worry for a child who prefers to "consume all we can" that takes over her/his life until finally she/he realizes "what's left of her soul begins to decay"?

This short tale is truly difficult to review because of the rotten way a child decides to live, and get addictive to "smoke, we sniff, we consume all we can". This is an unfortunate mother "who watches her child slowly fade away, and what's left of her soul begins to decay"; and all she can do is watch her child die...

Review of Southern Comfort
Review by elephantsealer
In affiliation with SENIOR CENTER GROUP
Rated: E | (3.5)
"Southern Comfort" is a short tale of selfishness: with Momma and Jo against daughter/sister, Ella Beth. It seems Mr. Atkins wants to marry Ella Beth, who refuses the marriage but is very much in love with Ray Wilkins, who "is poor as a church mouse". Jo, the sister tries very hard to convince her sister to marry Mr. Atkins because if Ella Beth goes ahead and marry Ray Wilkins, the future of Momma and Jo does looks dark. Ella Beth nevertheless tells Jo she did not care what happens if she does not marry Mr. Atkins because both Momma and Jo managed to spend "all the money Poppa left" while she had nothing but "hand-me-downs".

The unfortunate life of Momma and Jo means nothing to Ella Beth because she has a future as she studies "to be a school teacher". There might be some readers who would say that Ella Beth is the selfish person, for not considering what bleak future Momma and Jo face.

Review of Wisdom and Rule
Review by elephantsealer

"Wisdom and Rule" is lovely tale that reminded me of the many young people in my days, eager and strong. However, are those young people of my days the same as the many young people who grew seeds that the emperor distributed? I would, of course, say that the young people of my days as a young person may possibly be alike the same young people who grew the seeds given by the emperor: eager and willing to accomplish something.

However, young people do grow up, learn a lot from being young and eager; and I am sure many of them have learned a lesson or two. Because we all grow up; we learn from the lessons in schools; from the things that our parents teach us; and most of all we learn to truly grow up.

The tale behind this story of the emperor and the young children is superb and a true guide to and for children who are young and eager to learn... The wisdom in this tale is a true guide/example how children learn...

When I first started reading, "Super Elastic Bubble Plastic", I was intrigued; and I wondered... then the bubble just popped!!!!! It was a fun read, though; something I would definitely like to review again; but of course, I would just like to know what "destructive or hurting" thing the "cousins" did!!!!!!

The author does seem to have a strong tendency to mystery. It was indeed entertaining!!!!!!

Review of The Knock
Review by elephantsealer
In affiliation with SENIOR CENTER GROUP
Rated: E | (3.5)
"The knock" tells about "Charlotte" as she ran away from her town, with the police chasing after her, for apparently stealling a "precious artifact from a museium." As she looked back and realized the police were no longer on her trail, Charlotte decided to find a hotel so she can rest before going home. At the hotel, she found a strange woman, who opened the door for her and let her in.

Charlotte awoke the next morning, paid the old woman, and left for home. At home Grandma asked Charlotte if she stayed any where before getting home. When Charlotte mentioned the woman at the hotel down town, the Grandmother insisted there was no hotel down town, until she realized Charlotte mentioned the old woman at the hotel. The Grandmother then told Charlotte about the history of the hotel, where a mysterious murder occurred. Charlotte then decided to find out for herself, returned to the downtown hotel. She knocked on the door, and who came to the door but the old woman her Grandmother mentioned had died.

The author has written a mystery about an elderly woman who was supposed to have died many years before Charlotte's decision to hide at the hotel overnight as she thought of a way to get away from the police. Charlotte did feel odd when she returned to the hotel, and realized the old woman who opened the door had died years ago. The ease on which the tale was written suggested that the author decided to write a mysterious old woman, and the fact that Charlotte did see and talked to someone who had died years ago, that she thought she dreamed all about her stay at the hotel.

Kudos to the author. Do continue to write and give us more mysteries...

Review of Mermaid Thrift

"Mermaid Thrift" tells of "Gus" and "Katherine", who went into a shop, looking for things in preparation for their first child. It was an old shop, with an automated store clerk. The couple were curious, although it was Gus who was most curious about the place and the many different things that he found unusual. Nevertheless, the couple went ahead and bought what they thought are things for the new baby. In the end, as they both exit the store, Gus realized that the unborn baby has cost them to spend a lot of money!!!!!! However, inspite of the expense, Gus was happy there was a "shopping cart" that borne all the things for the baby...

Here is a tale of newly weds, who went shopping for the baby who will soon be born as well as an experience of the many things that a baby will need. This couple are happy looking forward to the birth of their baby.

Review of Watch for Morning
Review by elephantsealer
In affiliation with SENIOR CENTER GROUP
Rated: E | (3.5)
"Watch for Morning" is a short tale about Malory and Charity as they go into the woods, where Charity digs for an object as she instructs Malory to let her know when the sun rises. This a tale of two girls who seem to be worried of their future: Charity, who retrieves an "artifact", re-burries it in the earth when Malory screams, "The sun is rising!" As they leave the woods, Charity whispers to Malory, "Our future, Malory." It seems they have to wait for "next time" to know what their future is.

Is it rather curious for two girls to dig something in order to learn about their future; but then, girls have a tendency to make things up...

Although the tale is short, it did tell the reason for two girls getting up early, go into the woods, and dig for something that is supposed to tell them what their future would be. There is curiosity as well as the reasons for the visit into the woods.

Review of Baby 9

So you see, "Baby 9", and try to understand what "Teen 4" is doing. She is just tiring you out so that she can put you to bed early because she is just dying to watch TV. You should know by now that "teens" like your Teen 4 is plainly tring to tire you out so she can go ahead and watch her favorite TV or most probably, she wanted to do more reading so she can pass the next day's test!!!!!!!!

This short piece seems a different way a baby sitter can do her job to the finish much faster; tire the baby and then she can watch TV or most probably do more reading for her test the next day as soon as the little one is fast asleep......

"The Village Weaver and the Lost Child" tells of a lost child, and the beautiful tale of a village weaver, "Amani", who with a special thread found the lost child, returned the child to his mother; and how through the "vibrant thread" found the weaver "cherished" "into the hearts to his village" people.

A short tale like this piece of writing is a wonderful way in which writers should continue to write; present the tales of their thoughts, and write, write, and write some more to continue the wonderful way to present their works to readers.

What a piece of fun and laughter as I read "Gynarchy 7: Bridal Job". The author calls "herself/himself" "Novice Author", and what fun this piece turns out. Is "Paula" a day-house cleaner or a guy pretending to be a housemaid? Is "Paula" a person for hire, to do odd jobs in the house? Whatever "he/she" does, it is rather funny to get into a bridal gown and do house cleaning at the same time. What a fun way to line up a job!!!

I would encourage the author to keep writing and keep other writers "on toes" with short tales that are easy to read and understand.

My suggestion to the person bothered by the night noise maker in "Insomnia", how about turning on the radio for sweet, loud music that will "swoon" you to sleep? Or get to bed with radio over the ears, loud enough to drown the "noises" from the "resident getting ready to begin his day"? Or get on with the poisoning, my dear... not tomorrow, today!!!!!!!

Review of The News Article

"The News Article" tells of "Anne" and her boyfriend, "Ryan", which seems to suggest that "Anne", for quite some time, has been seeing a "ghost"; and that "Anne" has finally realized that Ryan was a ghost after reading an article in the newspaper. In reading this tale, I am glad to say that the author has written a very short tale about a girl who has fallen for a dead boy, Ryan. I say this because in my high school days, girls did fall for guys who were quiet and good looking; and that girls did cry when they broke up with their boy friends. To add to this, girls did think of their boy friends long after their separation.

The thought behind the tale, "The Last Goodbye", is most exhilirating. The author's words, "hope and possibilities" are "fading echoes" because there is always a way to heal and to love again. Let us take the thought with us and look at all the hopes and possibilities of a tomorrow. And why not?

What a nice thought: "Growing in God's Grace". Choosing "to live and not die..." is a wonderful thought; especially if the choice is to live through the grace of God. Indeed, life in our earth is through the grace of God. It is a thought that brings to mind that our life in this earth is maintained because we have the grace and blessing of God; given to us frseely by God; and maintained for us by God. We acknowledge the presence of grace in our life because we are children of God; and as childsren God keeps us in his love and grace. This is such a wonderful thought; and I hope that others who may read this short narrative would realize and understand that indeed God does love us and gives us undivided grace. What a lovely thought...

Review of VIRGIL BEAVER

I loved the story of and about "Virgil Beaver". It is about friendship that never ends, even by the passing of one of the friends. I can imagine in my mind, and see in my imagination the many happy days the friendship between two friends, pure and lovely between two guys. I have read about other friendships between two people; however, Beaver and his friend stand out because there is real and true connection between the two friends, a lasting love for each other.

In my days in high school, I became friends with two others of my classmates; which unfortunately ended when I left the country and decided to join my family who have decided to emigrate to a foreign country. As I read about Virgil Beaver, my mind floated back to the days when my high school friends and I were close and loving with each other.

Review of One too many

I understand the author's "One too many" because like her, I do have elephants, my favorite animal; although so far I have not been "lucky" to get a live one!!!!! Although, I doubt if I will ever get a live one at all!!!!!

It has been years since I started collecting: in the 1960s to the present. However, the elephants that I have been collecting lately are emerald elephants. I became fascinated with the green color that stretched my fantasy to emerald. I have now a large collection of emerald elephants.

The author has rightly sent her live elephant to the Zoo; and I am happy for her. So now she can visit the zoo as much as she cares, just to visit her "live" elephant gift. Lucky for her indeed. May the author continue to care of elephants...

"Two Reasons to Cheer" tells of the birth of twins! To a father expecting the birth, it becomes a joyous day because now he has two children!!!! It must have been a surprise to a fahter who expected only one birth. Nevertheless, the day has brought him twins. What a lovely surprise to a father expecting only one child.

Some parents are happy to have twins because now they have two that will give them lots of time to enjoy two children!!!!! I wondeer, though; is it such good fortune to have twins?
