Wow what a powerful story! The title of this piece drew me in. I was totally involved in every word. I can not even begin to understand what all of you went through. Mom and I met Dad and the grandkids at a fast food place for lunch... kids would kip( I think you meant camp) out in the living room for the night. Everything seemed to be going perfect. And also this "But life without ever him leaves a gaping hole that we never knew needed filling before our short time with him." This is Beautifully written! I loved every bit of it. Except I can not see myself hiding under I bush of red. I was worried when that where you hid. I love to hear a thunderstorm at night, when I am safe within my home. I felt your fear and my heart quickened as I read this. Well Done! Maci

I feel your pain! My Mother had both breast removed when she was my age. I just know I will someday hear something dreadful. There is no way to get ready for something like that. All the emotions you are feeling are expected. I will be praying for your healing.

Wow! I am sure you have heard that the changes have to start with you and your want-to. I think everyone has been here at one time or another. When I felt this way is when I found God. If this is not written about you then my prayers for you tonight will not be wasted. This is a very emotion write. You can feel the anger and disappointment in your words. I really like this poem. I did, however stumble at the beginning of the third line. 'the She" I think you might have wanted to put then she. I am not sure. But I was hooked my the title and drawn in to the end. I am in no way an expert so you check it out and see.

Ha ha How fun this must have been to write. I have had a few of those nights myself and I was indeed, "out of luck". This poem flowed well. I had the reader wondering what was the monster going to be. Then in the morning crawling across the floor. I had to wonder after that night how long you had to talk to yourself before you got down on that scary floor? LOL I really enjoy this poem. I have to admit you had my heart racing at the start of this poem! Well Done!
