Review of Name Challenge
Review by Maryann

*Thumbsup*Reviewed by Maryann *Thumbsup*

*Note4* FIRST IMPRESSION: This is a story about one member's user name and how she came to get it.

*Exclaim* THOUGHTS: Bravo! I loved your inspirational story. It promotes the thought that we can't love others until we first learn to be happy with ourselves. Thanks for taking the time to enter "WdC SuperPower Reviewers Group's writing mini challenge.

*Star*FAVORITE PART: I loved the whole thing. Gaer Tuilinn means Copper Colored Sparrow!! That's so pretty!! I think it's hard to find many people who don't like 'Elvish'! *Bigsmile*

Many have been in that dorm room environment. How scary and exciting it must all seem for the first time. Many questions would go through their minds about what's to come. You took your reader's through all those thoughts, ideas, and stages in just a small story.

The narrator understands that her story is constantly continuing, yet she shows such growth by the last paragraph. Your touch of humor about holding the crochet needle made me smile. Very nice work. *Smile*

*Idea*SUGGESTIONS: Uh oh, there's a very tiny typo in your first sentence. "On quiet and stormy night..." should probably mean...One quiet...Or, On a quiet...

'Just one idea you might use or not...I would move the last sentence over to your humorous afterthought about learning to crochet. ...And put all of that inside of so that it looks like this:

The Lesson:
This is who I am. I know the road ahead will not always be easy, but it is exciting to be on this journey still learning new lessons every day.

Also: I was able to learn how to crochet.

Hello Rhyssa !

Oh!! I thought there was something off about those Sonic places!! Now I know what it is! LOL

This part was delicious:
I'll be visualizing them dancing the Thriller dance (badly) and getting chased after...The 'food', that is...After those mushy kisses. *Smirk*

I'd *Ax* this part:
Well, now that I won't be going to that Sonic restaurant anymore...There's nothing in this bad poem that I would discard.

Overall:

Fine brains and fine dining...Or is that fine brain dining...Well, either way, you set the scene here of the Zombie hot spot.

*Note4* FIRST IMPRESSION: This is a poem about the Cherokee American Indians.

*Exclaim* THOUGHTS: Sherri, I'm impressed that you know so much about the Native American Indians. This is history done in a truly pleasant way to read. *Delight*

*Check2*ERRORS: No errors. This is perfect!

*Star*FAVORITE PART: I loved your whole poem from the beginning to the end. I especially enjoyed the way each line's first letter added to spelling out the title, 'Trail of Tears'.

This is a heartwrenching tale indeed. I could feel the emotion, and feel for Aniyunwiya, as the search for peace began.

*Star*This review is an acknowledgment of your contest entry, as well as some of my brief thoughts.

*Exclaim* You said it all in your great lines of wisdom, "Life is strange...It gives us everything when we feel hopeless on losing it all."

I loved the way your story ended with the prompt the way it began. You had an amazing story in between. Wow! What an adventure! ...And an underlining story throughout! I loved the ending. The ladies really taught that Ben a lesson! *Wink*

I hope you will continue to enter WDC contests because it's clear that you have lots of creative ideas. In the future, it might be a good idea for you to find a grammar check program to help you polish up your stories. Keep on writing!

*Exclaim* My goodness, you had so much going on in your story, that it was almost hard to find the prompt. Great idea to say that the two women were twin sisters.

You created lives for them which contained lots of heartache. Through thick and thin, they've always been there for each other, with the exception, perhaps, of one paragraph that told a different story. What a lovely ending your story had! Nice work.

*Exclaim* Wow! I didn't see the twist ending coming in the least! Great job in building the story. Your readers get a good idea of the strong bond between the two women. Each one deeply caring for the other.

I liked how the two chatted over coffee. The discussion about one friend, quickly turned to the other. I wondered how Mary could tell Cindy was expecting a baby. Great story-line with the twist. Nice work.

I wasn't sure why Taylor didn't give the earrings to Kathy himself, but I guess those in the Navy don't get too much time off. Great idea to have Marlene's life-long friend fall in love with Marlene's brother. Also, it was a nice touch to come back to the prompt scene at the end. Nice work.

As I started reading, I noticed right away where your story was going. What a very creative idea!

It was sweet that you had the narration state that the hurricane intentions were only to help the Earth.

I enjoyed reading your story of sweet friendship. Those ladies had bonded right from the start. You had lots of creative ideas, and it was really nice that you took the time to highlight some words that you knew many people might be unsure of. Maybe if you get a chance, you might go back and highlight a bit more.

I'll have to say that I would have never expected to read what the contents of that shiny red bag were! I thought that was very creative of you.

Even more creative was where the story led. I liked how the red bag remained the focus of the story. You certainly gave your story lots of twists and turns. I enjoyed the happy ending...Well, I guess Dawn wasn't too happy! LOL Nice work.

*Star*This review is an acknowledgment of your contest entry, as well as some of my brief thoughts.

*Exclaim* You really did your homework with this amazing tale about Harry Mudd and the Ferengi. Your poem told the entertaining story well.

I liked how you described the Ferengi. Their meeting and alliance were fun to read. After a lot of double crossing going on, the ending twist made your poem even that much more fantastic.

Your smooth-flowing rhyme added to the pleasant experience.

I also would like to mention the author notes about the Ferengi and Harry Mudd. I felt this enriched your item as well.

These notes added trivia which brings back great memories of the show. I'm sure this will help lots of members who know little about Star Trek, to also enjoy your poem as much as the fans. Great job! *Delight*

*Fire* Congrats Who Me! You're receiving a gift from "Invalid Item ! The Fossil Fuel Package has been ordered for you from: Your secret Admirer and includes one review, story or poem, from any item in your port, plus one more review!! This completes your package. Enjoy! *Fire*

*Note4* FIRST IMPRESSION: This is a great poem for coffee lovers.

*Exclaim* THOUGHTS: Ah, this poem has my name all over it! LOL I can't go a day without coffee, though these days I drink mostly decaf, but that's still coffee. I think your poem described the 'why' really well...

*Check2*ERRORS: I didn't see any errors.

*Star*FAVORITE PART: I loved the easy rhyme and consistent, smooth flow of your poem. It added to the pleasure of the read.

I also enjoyed the style, of ending the poem as it began. Really nice closure.

Gosh, I don't think you left anything out in these great stanzas! All of the words you used to describe the coffee-drinking experience were there...Calming, Soothing, Comforting...It's so true, that (well, for most of us anyway) coffee is a big part of everything we do.

A trip to the mall isn't complete without a Starbucks or something similar in hand. Did you ever notice how usually the only 'food or drink' permitted in shops is a Starbucks cup...

Waking up...Time for coffee. After dinner...Time for coffee. Sitting at the computer...Time for coffee. Middle of the day...Time for coffee. You're poem really put it all into perspective! *Delight*

*Idea*SUGGESTIONS:Now that you have a perfect poem, why not polish up the looks a bit. I would center the whole thing, not just the title. Also, maybe some brown colored font would look nice. *Smile*

Why not add a picture of a steaming cup at the bottom. ...Gosh, I need to take a break from reviewing to make a quick cup of International Delite!!! Addiction? Maybe, but there could be worse. *Bigsmile*

*Note4* FIRST IMPRESSION: This is a story which was entered in a contest.

*Exclaim* THOUGHTS: Oh great job! I didn't know what to expect with this one, but the surprise of humor brought a big smile to my face! *Bigsmile*

*Check2*ERRORS: I didn't find any errors. I can understand why this great piece earned a big red ribbon. *Smile*

*Star*FAVORITE PART: I absolutely loved reading this story. We've all had embarrassing moments at one time or another, and so this is the type of story we can all relate to.

The best part, was that all of a sudden your story took a change from serious to unexpected comedy. That catches your readers off guard and make them laugh with sincerity.

Gosh, I don't know much about plants, but I will indeed look up the one mentioned in your story. So, you know I'm still going to be thinking about this one later on today. *Bigsmile*

*Idea*SUGGESTIONS: Was the red ribbon given to you because you won it in the contest? Maybe you might write that under your story.

Also, if the contest is still active, maybe you might put the link to it, or at least write what the prompt/rules were. *Smile*

*Note4* FIRST IMPRESSION: This is a poem about Star Trek Captains.

*Exclaim* THOUGHTS: Hi eyestar~* ! I didn't get to do reviews during our review raid, so I'll be trying to get some of these fun type reviews done this weeek. *Bigsmile*

*Check2*ERRORS: no errors here.

*Star*FAVORITE PART:I liked the style of this poll. Not only do you have a great poll, but your readers can also learn something or get some tips from the longer introduction in the heading.

I love the bright color scheme in the heading. It makes your poll fun and inviting.

You have so many great choices!! I almost chose 'couldn't decide' because I do have a few favorites, but I picked Janeway. She has always been an admirable woman. She was fair to everyone in her crew, even right from the start when their were some problems. She was also the one to be around in times of trouble because she kept a clear head and was quick to think and make sure her commands were put into action. She was wise in utilizing her crew to their best potential.

I think Kirk would have been my second pick, just because of his smooth style. *Delight*

Thanks for making this great poll. *Smile*

*Exclaim*This poem is really beautiful.

I can feel the strong emotion and the feeling of hope that comes along with the struggle.

The choice of words you used, such as "dolor upon my soul", was very creative in adding to the intensity of the touching poem.

I would add a genre of 'inspirational', because this poem makes one look ahead to the brightness of a new day.

By the way, the very ending is all which didn't flow right to me...The title talks that 'there will dawn a new day', however your poem ends with, 'a new eve'. I think I would have expected 'a new dawn'.

Keep writing these great poems. I really enjoyed stopping by your port.*Delight*

*Exclaim*I love the style of your poem. It read like a limerick. I felt that it had a gentle playfulness in that way.

The rhyme is really smooth, and enjoyable.

This piece can hold truth for many Writing.com members. We have our 'in-person' lives...Some of us are students...Others have busy jobs...Kids...But we all meet here on this friendly on-line community. It's like having two lives, as you said! *Delight*

Yes, it strikes thought. We're the same person, yet how different it is to be in two different worlds. ...And we've all experienced the joy and the consequences! What would we ever do without the internet! *Bigsmile*

*Note4*I AM REVIEWING YOUR STORY AS A JUDGE FOR "Star Trek Poetry CONTEST . THANKS FOR ENTERING!

*Star*This review is an acknowledgment of your contest entry, as well as some of my brief thoughts.

*Exclaim* LOL Okay Debbie, you caught me off guard and you have me cracking up laughing, so that my dogs think I'm nuts once again!! That doesn't happen all that often, but thanks for writing something so fun to read, that it made me laugh. *Laugh*

How many times did we all watch a Star Trek episode and just knew which 'extra' was going to die by the color of their shirt, and their unknown look. Wouldn't it have been AWESOME for one of them to beat the odds by dyeing their shirt a different color! LOL Great fun and ideas in your fantastic limerick. *Delight*

I really love limericks, btw, when they rhyme so smoothly and are very well done. Your limerick was just such an experience. It was playful, friendly, and read like a pleasant song. Thanks for entering the Star Trek contest.
