I really like this piece. I understand where you are coming from and feel the same way about the way the world causes us over time to become rigid and makes us lose our playful childlike nature all in the name of progress and profit. I am 42 and still am bored at the dry lifeless ways that some have given into. Keep on writing and don't lose that free spirit. Excellent work!
Very clever and entertaining story Steve. I made me laugh. I love the absurdity of the story since the concept of getting children to believe in a gift giving fat man is absurd itself. I also love your Bio and its honesty. Keep on writing Steve. Maybe you can elabarate on the Easter Bunny next.
The story makes me realize that our relationship with our parents is not perfect especially when we compare it to other ones. Each are unique and the love rises above all. Even in your high level job the simple yet irreplaceable relationship with your mother is priceless. The story is heeart warming and reminds again that it is the simple things in life that are important.

A refreshingly caring look into the selfish state of mind that this hectic world pushes us to if we allow it. I liked how the author looked at these others with a compassionate eye, understanding and extending her/his heart and hand instead of quickly condemning them.
