Love lost and the fog

The Fog

It's lonely in the fog tonight,
my heart is like shattered glass.
Quiet fog will smother the light
and love never seems to last.

Blood so cold, runs through my veins,
there is nothing more to say.
All your words had come out the same
as you left and went your way.

The thick damp fog has said it all,
a foul mood crept in on me.
In cool damp nights the dark will call,
tears falling passionately.

It's way too late to wonder or wait,
I'd found love but I was wrong.
She said she's sorry, it was just fate,
but it haunted me for so long.

I don't know where my heart will go?
I'll know soon enough, I guess.
Some place better where life runs slow,
and the pain hurts less and less.

A place where lovers do not weep
but gather strength quietly.
Where love and beauty go to sleep
with no animosity.

Now somewhere in the days gone by,
what was once the heart in me.
There is a place in the fog tonight;
where tears come and set me free.
