The real magic of Christmas. (Published 2001)
Magic

Bells are ringing!
Snow is softly falling
covering the town in a
glittering blanket.
An exquisitely decorated tree
awaits Santa’s presents
to fill its skirt.
Three cups of hot chocolate
sit on the table
as we run
downstairs in our pyjamas.
Five quaint little stockings
hang neatly over
a blazing fireplace

A black cat yawns
as he lounges in a big armchair.
Mom carries a platter of cookies
to the table where we sit.
We eat our cookies, being careful
to leave some for dear Saint Nick.
We sneak a peek at our
Christmas tree before
Dad shoos us up to bed.
Everyone is asleep.

The black cat looks up at the tree
and the angel resting on top
gives him a wink.
