An ode to my four-year-old grandson, Kevin Michael.
An Ode to Kevin Michael

My four year old grandson, Kevin, sleeping.

When you think you've seen it all,
When the best has surely come and gone,
Your man is buried, your children grown,
Older grandsons are dating and you're history.
When it's nearly over, you receive a miracle.

Someone comes along and steals your heart,
Kisses your soul and re-opens your eyes,
Brings tears of joy and banishes the sadness,
Gives hugs and kisses when the mood hits
But always reminds you of rebirth and miracles.

This is an ode to my someone who came along,
The one who smiles, laughs, sings and dances,
Who winds my clocks, cuts up my mail,
Tells me stories, changes my VCR setting,
Turns off my DVD player and counts my money.

This is the grandson that wasn't expected,
The grandson who is just four, one more.
One more has proven the best can come again,
That I haven't seen it all yet, not even close,
And that I have eternity to be grateful.
