As time evolves, do things change much?
Mutations

Vile creatures crawled from the beds at sea
leaving slimy markings on the sand like slugs,
wallowing, swallowing, always greedy,
Aiming for home but going nowhere.

They feasted upon the stolen food of others,
feeding at night so their perfidy was hidden,
wallowing, swallowing, always greedy,
hiding in damp, cool shadows in the light of day.

In time, they evolved, cried "lo and behold!
We walk upright, leaving no residue of filth.
Still we wallow, swallow and are always greedy."
Mutations retain the core of their being.

Finally, vipers yelled at God with strident voices
"We want him crucified, cruicify him now."
While we wallowed and swallowed, always greedy,
God bled the precious blood of man and Son.
