A short poem I wrote when I was going through a rough time with someone I care about.
How comforting the phone ringing can be
When one's heart is breaking piece by piece,
No answer, of course, but that's expected,
Just doing what my soul directed

Oh look, another piece is on the floor,
But still I lie here begging for more
I throw the phone across the room,
Wishing that I could shake this gloom

It collides with a picture on the wall,
My eyes widen in shock as I watch it fall
Your beautiful face shatters before my eyes,
I sink to the ground and can't help but cry

Coward, fool, I hear in my head,
Can't you understand your love is dead?
Please, leave me alone, I whisper in fright,
And the voices leave me for another night

I close my eyes, enjoy the silence, and then,
Pick up the phone and dial again.
