Getting "settled" and meeting another victim.
I don’t know how long I stayed sitting on the carpet crying. It felt like hours, but it had only been a few minutes. My face was slick with tears and my cheek still stung. I had cried so hard and so much that I was completely numb. I sat there staring down at the carpet. Not really thinking of anything. I was just empty inside. Everything I had, was gone now thanks to Caleb.

I heard the door open and close so I looked up. There was a girl about my age standing there with a concerned look on her face.

"Are you ok?" she asked. I didn’t answer. Just kept staring at her. She had long blonde hair with black streaks. Her eyes were a sort of golden brown color. She was wearing a black shirt that kind of looked like a corset at the top, and a mini black skirt. She was wearing matching black knee high combat boots.

Was she one of THEM? I looked back down at the floor, not wanting to talk to anyone.

She walked over anyway and got down on her knees in front of me.

"I know exactly what you’re going through," she said suddenly. "I was kidnapped too."

I jerk my head up, eyes wide and look at her in shock and disbelief. I guess she wasn’t one of them.

"About 2 months ago. I was taking my usual midnight walks. I decided to take the long way back home so I went through an alley. Halfway through it I got this weird feeling that someone was watching me. I look back but I don’t see anyone. Then someone jumps down from the roof of the building to my right. He lands right in front of me. He told me not to be afraid. That he just wanted a taste. The last thing I remember was his dirty blonde hair and eager blue eyes. I think I blacked out and when I woke up, I was here," she finished with a shrug and a small smile. I had no idea what to say. She seemed ok with the fact that a vampire kidnapped her, tore her away from her life and stuck her in this isolated castle forever.

"Are you ok with all this?" I couldn’t help but ask. She sighed and seemed to think for a while.

"Well, I'll admit that I wasn’t exactly happy that this all happened. But the vampire who kidnapped me, Gabriel, helped make things easier for me. This place grows on you after a while. The only hard thing is getting used to the vampires. I don’t think you'll have any problem with Gabe. But Caleb's another story.

I sighed.

"I still can’t believe all this is happening. I had a life before. A friend. And now I don’t anymore."

She looked at me for a moment and then got up. Then she held out her hand for me. I grabbed it and she helped me up.

"Don’t worry. I know it’s hard for you. It was for me too. But at least we're not alone on this. We've got each other to talk to now. I’m going through basically the same thing as you," she smiled. I couldn’t help but smile back. It felt weird to smile after all that happened. But she was right. We were both kidnapped. It would be nice to have another female to talk to after all this.

"I’m Val," I say finally.

"Lynn. And we should probably get out of here. Caleb told me to show you to your room," she said walking to the door.

"Whose room is this?" I asked.

"Caleb’s," she answered turning the doorknob.

I glanced back at the bed I had woken up on. So I had been sleeping on Caleb's bed? A shiver ran through my body and I headed towards the door. We stepped out, she closed the door behind us and she led me to a door right next to his.

"Here it is," she said dramatically, opening the door. I gaped at the view before me and stepped into what was now my room. It was HUGE!!

The fluffy carpet and the walls were black; there was a window with purple see-through curtains and a regular bed with black sheets and tons of purple pillows all over it. There were 2 other doors and a wardrobe. There was also a full length mirror.

I looked over at Lynn who smiled.

"This," she started walking towards one of the doors to the left, "is your bathroom. Check it out." I walked towards it and opened the door.
It was amazing. The first thing that caught my attention was the big Jacuzzi tub. There were all kinds of scented bubble baths, soaps and shower gels around it. And it was big enough to fit about 3 people! In front of that were a sink and a mirror. There was also a regular shower, a toilet (of course) and towels.

"Wow," I breathed.

"Yea," Lynn laughed. She motioned for me to come out and showed me the next door. "And this leads to your closet," she swung the door open. It was a huge walk in closet, almost as big as my room. Nothing really caught my interest because it was completely empty.

"Just wait until we fill it up," she said, grinning, as if reading my thoughts.

We both walked out and I saw her heading for the door.

"You should start getting ready," she said turning the doorknob, "we're all going to go shopping in 30 minutes. We have to get there before the sun comes up. All the stores close by that time."

"Huh?" I said dumbstruck. 'What kind of place closed before the sun came up? And how are we going to get there?' I thought remembering about the woods surrounding us for as far as I could see. She looked at my dumbstruck look and laughed.

"Don’t worry, you'll see when we get there," was all she said and left.

'Oooook' I thought looking around my room. '30 minutes.' I looked down at myself and suddenly noticed I still had Moon's blood all over my arms, hands and clothes. I couldn’t help but feel a pang of pain at my friend’s loss. 'Damn Caleb for killing her' I thought bitterly. But then his words floated back into my mind: '.....a vampire’s nature to drink blood.' I shuddered and then sighed. I guess I couldn’t really blame him. It was a vampire’s nature to drink blood. She was just another victim. It still hurt though.

I turned my attention back to my clothes and realized I couldn’t wear them to go shopping. I thought of Lynn. She looked about the same size as me. Maybe she would let me borrow something to wear just for tonight.

I settled on that thought and headed towards the bathroom where I filled the tub to the top with warm water, poured in a shower gel that smelled like rose petals and soaked in it until my whole body smelled like roses. I washed away all the dried blood, drained the water and quickly dried up. When I stepped back into my room I checked the clock. 3:20 Am. I still had 10 minutes. And a sudden dilemma dawned on me. I didn’t know where Lynn's room was. The only room I did know was mine and Caleb's (who was right next to mine). I guess he would help me find it, but did I really want to walk into his room with just a towel on?
