A reply to Braddock's "THE PASSING OF TIME" Second in Geno's series.
THE ANTICIPATION OF TIME

My rival’s prowess with the pen is something to behold
His verse of Sterling Silver doth reflect his heart of gold
A worthy match then so it seems though not of sword or pistol
A cryptic battle on the page requiring balls of crystal

Time must pass between us o’er this rugged Aussie land
And so begins the banter only few would understand
Daunted by his task, logistics better on the day
The General now takes up the cause and flies the friendly way

The piece dispatched by week’s third day and Lunar’s next first quarter
Before she’s full Time must touch down on wings spread o’er the water
A trusted stranger, Time in hand, ‘neath the sign of red and white
A henchman of the General ensures the piece will see the light

The bearer of the key must now lay claim to it because
The stone wall holds the treasured thing locked tight behind closed doors
Proof of his existence a requirement of transaction
The mark of one, and only one should meet with satisfaction
