A subtle poem about stalker and victim.
The Watcher

He watches
in the night,
a dark figure
in an otherwise light world.
The shining moon
guides his steps
until he can see her.
her window is a beacon,
a flood of light and sound
so he watches.
she brushes her hair
and undresses
carelessly and recklessly,
unknowingly
that he watches.
She double checks her locks
and turns off the television.
she gets a drink of water
and turns off the lights
one by one.
she climbs into bed alone,
as he watches.
her locks are just toys
and he wants to see her
up close.
he wants to smell her skin,
to touch her hair,
to taste her.
She sleeps
and smiles at her own sweet dreams
and he watches.
