I have to ask, What is wrong with us?
I close my eyes, horror fills my dreams
Over and over I witness sadistic scenes
The ability of man to be cruel and evil of heart
This is what is ripping this country apart

Peace and harmony are things seen only in dreams
Self-indulgence and vulgarity have replaced them it seems
Mistrust and rudeness greet strangers at our door
Isolation has become the norm more and more

Neighbors living next to each other not knowing each other’s name
The world passes by unnoticed, what a shame
We work and we grumble while smiling the fake smile
Having contempt for our fellow man all the while

We judge others for their actions, while failing to judge our own
Like untouchable kings perched on our throne
We complain about our government, but on voting day stay home
Clueless and voiceless, our heads filled with foam

What will it take to wake this country from its sleep?
To stir the emotions of its dim-witted sheep
We need to fix what’s broken or doom will be our fate
American horror is knocking at America’s gate

So let us act as a united nation before it is to late
