A poem about a certain Vice President
Through his connections, Cheney made millions as CEO,
Nobody’s perfect.
He was a key player in boosting Halliburton’s profits during those years
Nobody’s perfect.
He skirted American policy and law in order to do business in sanctioned countries
Nobody’s perfect.
He stood on the soil of lands where human rights violations were the rule instead of the exception
Nobody’s perfect.
He flatly denied that the war with Iraq was really to gain control of their oil
Nobody’s perfect.
He couldn’t deny the policies being discussed with American oil companies
Nobody’s perfect.
He hides in shadows, reluctant to speak
Nobody’s perfect.
He only made it to Vice President
Nobody’s perfect.
The President is his puppet
Nobody’s perfect.

The President stubbornly stands
Nobody’s perfect.
Though his surge is failing
Nobody’s perfect.
Approval is at an all-time low
Nobody’s perfect.
But he continues to go
Nobody’s perfect.
Until death, assassination, or collapse does him in
Nobody’s perfect.
John Wayne in the Oval Office
Nobody’s perfect.

His Defense Secretary is prone to a quivering stomach
Nobody’s perfect.
Chertoff’s gut feeling tells us we’ll be attacked
Nobody’s perfect.
Yet he refuses to acknowledge it’s just indigestion
Nobody’s perfect.

Meanwhile, we’re still killing each other in Iraq
Nobody’s perfect.
Painting their towns with blood
Nobody’s perfect.
Dying for a cause that won’t live
Nobody’s perfect.
Fighting until it kills us all
But nobody’s perfect.
