mother/daughter struggle over getting ready for school
Don't want to rush - don't want to hurry.
Just 5 more minutes - it's only six-thirty.
I've plenty of time to get ready for school.
Why are you worried?
Have I broken a rule?
My "get-ready" chart is right by my bed.
My clothes are selected (at least in my head).
Homework is ready, booksack is packed,
Breakfast smells yummy.
I'm on the right track.
I love you, Mom, for all that you do,
But please could you chill and let me get through?
I won't let you down by being a brat.
I know that you've taught me much better than that.
Here comes the bus, so please don't worry.
I'm all set to go and it's just seven-thirty.
