How beautifully blind we were in our ill-fated intent.
Unseen, with screams lost against the wind,
My tears are one of many falling in the rain,
And every song a paean for what has been:

So soon…
Has the time really come?
Never did I want it to end this way.
What is left unspoken
Cannot be undone,
And what will echo loudest is our pain.

Wary to exhale,
Were you the first to breathe
Words of departure?
Restless Eve, your wonder, twice denied,
Remained eager to believe.
Each action was free falling.
Each effort was just finding
Fruition as its crown,
But we stood apart… mouths agape in soundless horror
At a stillborn passion.

Struggling, I seek what distance can lend,
Stumbling, I fall, wearied by wind-
Stubbornly, I tread onward again,
Sinking ‘till I can only crawl-
Sodden by the ground I claw.
Take me away-
away from it all.
