Grandma's Christmas Present, Contest Entry

I'm polishing runners 'till they're slick,
softening up old worn out leather straps.
Getting ready the role of ole St. Nick,
searching closets for my warmest wraps.

I made my list out many months ago,
checked and rechecked it more than twice.
Shopped a few weeks 'till I ran out of dough,
figured none were naughty, all were nice!

Wrapped my presents in bright glitter and bows:
Flavored Spritzers, and Starbucks Coffee,
Belgian chocolates, cookies, crepes in rows,
packed tight with truffles filled with toffee.

Filled up my Sleigh and I'm ready to go.
I'll leave early Christmas Eve morning,
providing there's lots of fluffy white snow,
head down to Kitsap without warning.

Spend Christmas day with all my grandkids,
bring back that family gathering.
Can't wait to see them pop sleepy eyelids,
Grandma's presents will have them a-gawking!
