Just a simple sonnet about a woman constantly on my mind..and how it has affected my life.
LOVE AND HATE
By Phillip M. Inwood
(Also known as Adam P. Rothstein)

I love her, I hate her, ‘tis my cross to bear,
Yet I know her presence makes me whole,
But still on my heart strings she often does tear,
Ripping pieces apart from my soul.

I grimace as I see her in the arms of another,
Destined to be without love all of my life,
She giggles and tells me I’m just like a brother,
Yet I need not a sister; I desire a wife.

But a friend I have been, and shall remain,
‘Tis better than nothing at all,
Providing her shelter during the rain,
Arms open to catch her when she falls.

Perhaps one day we will be together,
I hope the time comes, and lasts forever.
