How depression can feel
Depression

Within my mind there lives a ravening beast
Waiting, watching, ever vigilant
For the second that the fragile leash
Made of pills and therapy
Will slip, allowing it to reach past
Those scant inches that separate my mind
From it’s great, slavering maw
Devouring my sanity, never to be found again
And while I struggle to stay out of it’s reach
A frantic dance of dodge and dive
Those who have no beast of their own
Sneer and say, Just snap out of it.”
