I LOST MY WAY

His hand is waiting to help us up -

The road behind me stretched out so far
that the eye could not see the beginning.
The road ahead was shroudred in haze,
and my endurance was quickly thinning.

The road behind me was filled with thorns
that must have caused my soul to bleed.
I cried out to my Saviror, "lead me onward,
for you alone can know my dire need".

I stumbled and fell but He lifted me up
yet I still cried out in anquish at the pain.
His tender mercy gave me the courage
to look down the road before me again.

Where only thorns had grown on the road
that I had traveled for, oh, so very long,
roses bloomed all along the way ahead
and I heard the sweetness of birdsong.

"What happened, child?" He asked of me
as I breathed deep of the clean fresh air.
"Without you, Lord, I lost my way -
but you have always, for me, been there."

Then Jesus took my hand in his own,
giving me a glimpse of Heaven that day.
"Fear not, for I am with you" He said,
He found me when I had lost my way.
