inspiration prompt round 3 entry
Sitting in a shadowed room
Watching cars drive by
Thinking of what could have been
Trying not to cry
My heart beats and I still ache
Longing for your touch
Hoping that as time goes by
This won't hurt as much
My grief passes. Days go on.
Slowly shadows fail
And my darkness turns to light
My heart lifts a veil
The emptiness I once felt
Suddenly is gone
And through darkened thunderclouds
I can feel the dawn
Now strength washes over me
Joy at life anew
Raindrops dance and sing and play.
Skies are silver blue
I can laugh at life again
Suddenly it's turned
Walking tall I proudly bear
Scars that I have earned
