Treachery in love.
IMPOSTER: a sonnet

You came and looked at me as if in trance
And told me that I had bewitched you so.
You said you were maddened by my fragrance
You told me in your heart my love did grow.

A girl I was not even yet sixteen
While you had seen more than half of the world.
You said one like me you had never seen.
And I easily did believe your word.

This seemed to make you rather too much bold.
I thought it was just a bit of sherry.
The real truth was but yet to unfold.
You took my all by evil treachery.

I came to know too late your character.
You turned out to be just an imposter.
