A true encounter while going through all of my work, in folders in a box from 2008.

Here I set tonight, looking through the past year.
Records found, that I have kept, of the love that I have written.
The year has past, what did I really promote? Just a little snake bitten!
In all that I have done, have I brought cheer?
Or am I still instilling fear?
I Must Press On

Wow almost one year on this site, yet did they see?
They said they were friends, hum, since then, no one emailed me.
To think, that I was blessed to be friends with the real, ‘Jersey Girl’.
All in all I have to say that she is more than a pearl.
I left them, for good reason and now I have to let it be.
I Must Press On

At times, after a great show, I stood up and took my bow.
Yet in my mind it came back to those stacks of pages, unwritten.
“I’ll get there one day”, I would say. “Yes I will some how.”
Ton’s of paperwork! Limited time; Hell, get the snow plow!
Here we go again, pages with titles and more.... I feel smitten
I Must Press On

Good thing that I have three children still in school.
All of this blank paper, I know what to do, aren’t nobody’s fool.
Here is a pack of what we were to do, on the days of visit.
Email addresses, poems that they wrote, some this and that, Holly shit!
OK Dave, just breath. That one I remember made me just drool.
I Must Press On

Sticky tabs for this and some for that, this looks like it’s been chewed by a rat.
Which is which, what is what and what the hell is that?
Wow, A newspaper article. Of a musher and sled, and his dog team;
Look at their faces, their smiles and their eyes how they beam.
Which pile should I put this in? Have to hold this back.
I Must Press On

Wow, all of these things take me back in time through my wee little mind.
Here are the first drafts of the, “Mother of Pearl”. My first ship; what a girl!
Folder after folder, stack after stack, what else in here will I find?
Hear are, ‘My charts, my notes, the crew list and pictures of the “Mother of Pearl’.
Now I have conquered that mess, I hope I never again, get this behind.
Off to bed, I Must Press On to sleep in tomorrow.
