A poem written when I was awake for far too long.
Sleep

Lost dreams, in reality awaken,
ephemeral specters, ethereal.
Sleep, like shattered dreams breakin',
Seem, to me, steeped in material.

Like shade in fantastic novels past,
like dragons and elves and magic,
I wonder if what I see shall last,
or if it's a dream, lonely and tragic.

Shade in fantasy declines with light,
and my visions seem to me unreal.
against reality I push my might,
to see what secrets I might reveal.

Secrets of what's behind the curtain,
and what's inside the looking glass.
to unknow that which must be certain,
to undo what has come to pass.

The dream world and the real one,
(if by real, you mean that which I see)
merge into my monotonous drone,
and to me, it seems that both can be.
