IN LOVING ARMS

I once was held in loving arms,
unafraid of what the future would bring.
Safe and secure of his love for me,
it lasted until the early Spring

When the passion died.

Unafraid was only temporary,
fists doubled in anger left me bleeding.
There was no way to escape his wrath,
I didn't know what he was needing.

Then the passion died.

Safe and secure I felt upon leaving,
he would never find me or hurt again.
Looking over my shoulder in fear,
it was a choice - I couldn't win.

Only the passion died.

Calls and pleading, "come back to me"
and like a fool I returned to find
that it was just a ruse to get me back
and play more games with my mind.

My passion was about to die.

In loving arms he held me tight
and he would not let me get away.
Hands had no mercy for me that night,
I might not live to see another day.

His passion robbed my life - but not my soul.
May he rest in peace now...
