The last letter.
Inside Out

Tonight, I sit here in peace onside this lonesome hill.
I've built a fire, warding off the night's coldest of chills.
Don't worry yourselves! I'm not down to my last tear!
I've wrapped myself in a flannel blanket as I sit here,
watching the dark that has stolen the light of my days.
There's something I now need to write, that I cannot say.

Life's been real tough, but for a while I have survived!
I'm happy for in part, it's indeed been a wonderful life!
Forgive me! Mom! For years, I never meant to hurt you!
Daddy! I wish there'd been more time left for us, to do.
Brother! Stop wasting time and make your life count!
For it is only life that twists me, turning me Inside Out.

It's been a long journey, a great one of life and love.
I spent it well, but now I'm certain I've had enough!
I've found both lovers and friends upon my travels.
Forgive me! As I did not know this soon, I'd unravel!
I do wish I had more time to mend the many fences,
where in storms, they were broken at others expense.

I'll leave this world in grace, suiting a pleasant smile,
in thankfulness for my time you've made worth while.
As the memories flood their way back into your heart,
blessed be, the time you appreciate before you part!
Please don't cry! From roof tops you need not shout!
For it is only life that twists me, turning me Inside Out.

Note From the Author

Although this piece is very sad, the whole point of writing is to relate to the audience. This piece was inspired by combination, the death of a friend and personal experience. The focal point of expression, is that sometimes people don't get the chance to say good-bye and their loved ones are left behind to ponder the many questions burying them into depression. It is meant to comfort those in this situation. I ask that you please not just view, but REVIEW this piece as you would any other write. Thanks! ~Danielle
