Veteran's Day thoughts
Remember the Veteran

Regiments who travel daily, into harms way,
Each man has his own reason, for the duty he sees today.
Mess kits carried always, for a quick and tasteless meal,
Early morning engagements makes the afternoon newsreel.
Mortar fire that shakes the loose teeth in the infantryman’s head,
Brave and weary soldier feel the vibrations until they go to bed.
Eyeball all the foreign landscape to catch a hiding foe,
Raw recruits learn very fast, when to duck and when to go.
The airman has no cover from a deadly incoming missile,
Helicopters pick up wounded men as fast as they can whistle.
Eager beavers jump at any chance to show how well they fly,
Vomit lead on that hillside then go home for some brief shuteye.
Endless days in battle ships that sail on choppy water,
There is not time to swab a deck or email your young baby daughter.
Earning medals for all you do, can never replace a missing leg,
Reliving dreams of a bloody day in hell before saying goodbye to your pal Greg.
All our heroes deserve the best for doing a special mission,
National parades are just a part of our genuine love and recognition.

Remember the Veterans, they all serve at home and abroad.
