Are we ready for a life of adventure?
Sadness surrounds me, yet I am numbed to its effects;
Some would say I am fortunate.
Maybe they don’t know what it is like
To distance oneself from vulnerability.

I crave the cliff diving experience
Where fear and exhilaration
Mingle in the mind
Causing ones heart to race
And senses to heighten.
Every second lengthens in time
And extends into forever.

I watch as thrill seekers
Step beyond the safe ledge of familiarity
And rescue a maiden distressed
From the loneliness of a crowded room,
Bringing her to a banquet
Where two souls
Drink of an everlasting wine
That they’ve shared
Through just a glance and a smile.

Fear guards me
From taking the chance
That an emotional upheaval
Could bridge the gap
Between me and the world.
The world is constant
Yet we each are nagged by subtle whispers
Begging us to plunge
Head first into the next experience,
And change what appears constant.

The world is still constant.
Emotions interface us into
Previously unknown realms
Of fear, anxiety, exhilaration
And love.
Love drives us.
Emotions captivate us, confuse us,
And entangle us in the unknown.
The world remains constant;
Yet our lives have just changed.

Fear and exhilaration are whispering to me.
Sadness is lurking in the shadows.
Vulnerability is taking my hand,
Telling me it is time for change.
