NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN

I met a man with eyes of deep blue
who promised me that he'd be true.
But the winds of change grew cold,
in the end he seemed suddenly old.
He was an untrue love, one of a kind,
that I managed to leave far behind.
His heart and soul I could not win,
so I just said "never, never again"!

For me that lasted for a year or two,
then I met another man that now I rue.
His eyes were such a dreamy brown,
I know he would not ever let me down.
That's what I thought way back then,
when I fell so deep in love, once again.
Our loved faded and then so did we,
when I wasn't looking, he set me free.

So I gave up my quest for a gold ring,
that would cause my heart to sing.
I'd rather be alone the rest of my days,
then to cry for a love I couldn't save.
I went to work and forgot to dance.
I vowed not to give romance a chance.
It's been many years, my hair is white,
and I lie alone each and every night.

Friends and family smiled and said,
"It's such a shame she never wed".
I didn't need pity, I liked being alone,
had no need of a love to share my home.
Yet one day as I ventured our for a walk,
I met a man and we stopped to talk.
His eyes were green as early spring,
his eyes promised me everything.

When I look back at where I've been,
I wonder what I was thinking then.
I wasted years until I found Mr. Right,
a true love who always holds me tight.
A lasting love I never hoped to find.
I let the world of living and loving behind.
Now I can smile from here to forever,
and I oft remember not to say "never".

Now the moral of my little story is this,
never shy away from a goodnight kiss.
Take him in your arms, hold him tight,.
There will be a happy ending in sight.
There will be love you can hope to win,
so remember to never say never again!
Learn to love and care before it is too late,
Somewhere out there is a perfect mate!
