Part of a series of 5 poems, three of which that will be written in the next three weeks.
Week One:

A green stem siphoned from
the ground. From the sun's
longing to see beauty again.
Violent red rose pedals spring
to life. It's beauty stands alone
among a life of nothings.

From my heart this rose grows
with the sound of your voice,
and the memory of your touch
returns to me in such force
I'm overwhelmed. Breathless.

As seconds pass with near precision
to the beats of my heart. Alone and
longing to lay my rose next to yours.
The soft pedals caressing one another
and stems intertwining and crossing
until they formed into one again.

Though I now lay alone in bed,
and the spot next to me still cold,
the memory of your lips on mine
hold me through the night.
My heart still beats for you,
sending us both off to sleep.
