A play on words, and tribute to the Greeks.
Lexicon of words

A lexicon of jumbled words,
A shepherd’s watch, a flight of birds,
No two decisions are the same?
In life they cease, in dreams they came.

Evade the eyes, Minerva’s gaze,
The old man had seen happier days,
His staff, his labour, his good name,
He swapped the lot for just the same.

As Dedaleous, would invent,
The wings the air would circumvent
And those would say they’re Heaven sent
But not in case of accident.

So wanton argue, Socrates,
With poets and scholars, to lack degrees,
And never wrong to claim decrees,
Impersonate great Pericle’s.
