A poem comparing how people perceive words to how they see each other.
Perception

Kill. Hate. Nasty.
Happy. Love. Kind.

See the words on the page
Brings to mind the old adage
Don't judge a book by its cover
Be he your enemy or your lover

Lies. Doubt. Bad.
Gift. Smile. Laugh.

Connotation brings the thought to mind.
And blinds you to the truth behind.
The way things appear. The way they seem
Is no more real than a dream.

Evil. Burn. Fight.
Believe. Truth. Pretty.

Words and people - are they not the same
Both use the other to bring joy or pain.
So look deeper. For it is not always the case
That pretty is nice. See beyond the face.
