A Writer's Cramp contest entry of a lost item and the mission to find it.
Walking through the building,
I assume eyes are on me.
They're on me for my charm,
I'm what they want to see.
I stood in the middle,
middle of the room.
Got their attention,
I acted too soon.
They all began to laugh,
when I realized what was missing.
I turned to the DJ,
yelled at him to sing.
I ran out the door,
tears in my eyes.
A mission I had to make,
Something I had to find.
First I ran home,
maybe I left it in my room.
Nothing was there,
the bass began to boom.
I went back to the party,
I could have left it with my goat,
the woman in the room,
told me it's because I gloat.
My quest began,
I asked around.
I swang, twister and hustled,
until my rhythm was found.
Went back into the ballroom,
pointed to the band.
My hips began to sway,
I clapped my hands.
My rhythm was back,
my soul was free.
I will never lose you again,
I said, the beat will be with me.
