Being a child I wonder why I have to study so hard when the world is at war.
                      EXHAUSTION

Day  by  day,  as  my  bag  I carry,
I  run  from  class  to  class
The  numbers  and  letters  dance  before me
Whether  I  fail or  pass.

Symbols and  formulas, calculations and equations,
The  blackboard and the white chalk dust
Computers and corrections, assignments and functions
Crumbles my  little  mind’s  crust….

Shakespeare  and  sonnets,  poetry  and  plays,
Devour  my    tiny  young    brain….
As  the  phrases    and  clauses,  grammar  and  grades,
Bind  me  up in  chains….

Countries  and  capitals,  continents  and  oceans,
Spread  over  this  huge  huge  earth,
Galaxies  and  moon , planets  and  stars,
I  wonder  how  much  they  are  worth !!!!

Monarchs  and  masters,  that  ruled this kingdom,
Many  many  years  ago,
Would  they rise  from  their graves and change the  History,
If  I boost  their vain  ego ????

Alas, I  wonder and  pout and ponder,
Why  I  should  memorize  facts  by  heart ???
When  the  world  is  at  war, and  peace  nowhere
Have I  really  paid  my part  ???

My  tired  mind  just  needs  the  arms,
Arms  to  hold  me  close,
Not  arms  and weapons  to  fight  each  other..
And  a  race  that  these  schools  impose.

I  need  a  solace of  love  and  peace,
Somewhere in  my  exhausted  mind..
A  music  that  will linger  forever..
A  new  childhood  that  I  can  find.
