A small poem that came to mind in class one day. I'm rather proud of the result.
In the forests of the darkest night
I begin my hunt with moon’s soft light.
And though I hunt, I hear and see
That someone else is hunting me.

I crouch and lay there in the grass
And pray to God that they will pass.
And when they pass I feel relieved
And heave a sigh I have conceived.

But then they come and slit my throat
And my blood has become a moat.
And when I look into my killer’s eyes
I see, with great fury, a great surprise.

It was my brother, my lover, and my friend
That has brought about this bittersweet end.
And now I close my eyes and cry
But I am not sad that this is how I die.

I am happy and filled with glee
That he is the one that did free me
Now sweet heaven’s stair I climb
And look at your face one last time

Your tears are flowing pure and free
For all in the woods free to see
You hold my body in the grass
And pray to god this pain will pass.

But it will stay forever more
Until you pass beyond the door
Only then can I hold you tight
And say that everything is all right.
