A poem of unspeakable fear within a paranoid mind
            Silent  Soliloquy

              Primordial urges confuse me
              as do these abstract thoughts
but I am alone, naked and fearful
              in a strange, chaotic place

A bloated, red sun hangs low
casting awkward shadows from foul trees
and, in the steadily encroaching twilight,
pale, twin moons start to rise

I recall no journey, no transition
one minute sipping cool, mint tea,
              the next, sprawled openly
on coarse, yellow grass and black stone

In the distance, I hear eerie cries,
              and my skin crawls
my bowels loosen, and I shiver,
not from the cool air, but terror

              What laws compel this universe?
              what predators prevail?
              and, more importantly,
what God, if any, hears my prayer?
