To My Sweet Phantom of the Night

In the evenings when the wind
speaks softly in my ear;
When the stars give out a shine
so enchantingly clear.

When the soft beams of moonlight
leave a trail of shadows in sight;
I listen to the sweet melodious sound
of your voice at night.

Dreamily I lay entranced
in sweet dizzy spells;
My heart beating faster
and beginning to swell.

The sweet purr of your voice
leaves me hopelessly hooked;
In this entangled state I trembled
my whole body shook.

It is madness, I know
to breathe in awakening feelings;
Interwoven in a thread of dreams
and wishful thinking.

Falling for the mysterious voice
of the shadow in the night;
is insanity... so absurd...
It will never be right.

In the sunshine of my thoughts
where my heart still glitters and sings;
The fountain of happiness will someday shed
bitter tears of shattered dreams.

My sweet phantom of the night
Oh! If only you knew...
My hidden treasure of dreams and hopes
holds the thought of you.
