This poem I wrote for my grandmother who passed away when I was eight years old.
The sunset shone on you lovingly
One final time so that the world was graced with your beauty
My dear Jacomina I’m sorry
I wasn’t there…
My dear Jacomina please forgive me
I wasn’t there
Please forgive my fear as the Father would forgive our sins
Please forgive my fear of those pipes
Those same pipes that gave you your last breath
Suddenly with one fowl trip
It was taken away!
My dear Jacomina
You asked for me but I wasn’t there
My dear Jacomina
You reached for me but I wasn’t there
Please forgive me…
