Christmas Spirit

I smell Calendula leaves
Crushed, simmered
Chamomile
Dancing in the pan.
Olive oil teases,
Drawing out the flowers like shy friends.

I touch the perfect box;
Jeweled, elegant
Lidded.
Hiding half the year,
The silent soul mate destined now for greatness.

I hear the oil
Pouring, Dripping
Scraping
Liquid gold nestles,
Carefully encouraged
To join the dance within its box.

I close my eyes and walk away
Waiting.
All good things take time.

I sing out Season's Greetings
Giving, Taking
Opening
Box smiles
Foot scrub waits
To be enjoyed over and over again.
