I struggle with depression. This is how I feel when I get overwhelmed.

Silence
I retreat
Into my cocoon.

I don’t want to hear
Any one or thing
I need my space

Hands over face
A fan muffles sound
I sit and pray

Help me Lord
to quell the noise
to stop my senses

Overwhelmed
Can’t take it
Must retreat

Silence
my sanctuary
Calm my nerves

Retreat
The only answer
keeps me sane

Gradually
Coming out of
The hole I was in.

Now I can deal
With the life
I must live.
